Student Program
Began in 2003, our student program has a two goals: 1) Educate local Ecuadorians 2) Assure the continued existence of Water For People through student recruitment. It is our goal with the program to insure the continued life of both Water For People, and continued implementation of water systems in Ecuador.
Educate Ecuadorians: Inspired by HCJB's technicians, we desire to continue the health education of the Quechua peoples. An intimate knowledge of the culture is essential for optimal health care education. Therefore, we believe that the training of local community individuals is very important to the success of our water projects.
Local Student Recruitment: As part of our recruitment process, we bring a selected student to Ecuador on our annual WFP trip. WFP pays all the student's expenses associated with the trip, including airfare, hotel, and meals. The student is then required to submit a paper on their experience, which will be posted to this web site.
FUNDING: Funding for the student program is funded through the AWWA committee budget and the annual silent auction. No donations to WFP are used for the student program. 100% of all donations go directly for the purchase of materials.
